I am Jim Palmer, President of Orange County Rescue Mission. I have had the privilege of serving our community alongside John Patterson for over eight years.

John Patterson’s commitment to serving Orange County Rescue Mission is outstanding! Since 2013 he has mobilized his OC Auto Team and their customers to sponsor the annual donation drive, Christmas in July. In July 2021, they collected $21,533 and 7,483 pounds of donations! The Mazda Miata caravan from Tustin Auto Center to Orange County Rescue Mission’s Village of Hope was especially fun for the homeless children. And then, every Christmas, OC Auto Team host toy drives at their dealerships, making sure that there are plenty of toys to share with the children at each of our transitional housing facilities. John’s leadership for these events is a tremendous help to our organization and me.

In addition to the donation drives, John and the Tustin Mazda and Hyundai dealerships have made a significant and personal impact in the lives of formerly homeless individuals. Each quarter a group of trained and well-prepared men and women step out into the work world. Several of these men and women are successfully employed with the dealerships. John’s “second-chance” opportunities for employment speak well of his character.

And to top it off, OC Auto Team supports our annual OC Charity Classic at Mission Viejo Country Club as the Hole-in-one Sponsor, with the incentive to win a new car to whoever makes the hole-in-one.
